85 golfers, our sponsors, our volunteers and the whole team at Cedar Creek came together, everybody had a great time, and together we raised $150,000. Every foursome, every sponsor sign, every raffle ticket and every putt went to one place: our local homeless veterans. You didn’t just play a round of golf. You told the men and women who served that they are not forgotten, and they are not alone.

Last tournament the community turned out in force — a packed morning of foursomes, flags, music and total strangers who finished the day as friends. It worked. So this year we are not repeating it, we are outgrowing it: a bigger course, a brand-new cause, and a field we intend to fill.

That is not a statistic to me — that is a neighbor. One morning of golf will not fix all of it.
